Toluene is produced by distillation of the aromatic fraction (BTX) obtained from the catalytic reforming process of petroleum naphthas. It is a liquid aromatic hydrocarbon, volatile, slightly soluble in water, but easily miscible with alcohol, ether, chloroform, acetone, acid, and carbon disulfide.
The sale of NITN toluene is regulated by the Subdirectorate for the Control and Oversight of Chemical Substances and Narcotics of the Ministry of Justice and Law.
It is used as a solvent in the manufacture of paints, resins, thinner, and inks.
