Sulfuric acid (H₂SO₄) is an extremely corrosive chemical compound. It is generally obtained from sulfur dioxide through oxidation with nitrogen oxides in an aqueous solution.

Uses
A large portion is used in the manufacture of fertilizers and salts for water treatment. Other important applications include petroleum refining, pigment production, steel treatment, extraction of non-ferrous metals, and the manufacture of explosives, agrochemicals, detergents, plastics, fibers, and rubbers.
