It is an aqueous solution of nitric acid (HNO₃) containing 55% concentration of the compound. It is a corrosive liquid, colorless or slightly yellowish, with a strong and penetrating odor. Due to its high reactivity, it must be handled with caution, using proper protective equipment and under controlled conditions to prevent harm to health and the environment.
It is mainly used in the production of fertilizers, industrial chemicals, explosives, and in metal processing.
